A little freaky

Last night Phil was staying with some friends kids, so once again it was just me alone in bed. Around 3 a.m. Kyson decides he needs to sleep with me, fine, just go to sleep. I could tell he was a little restless, so I was glad when he said that he was going to go back to his room. He climbs over me to get out of the bed and stands there staring at my night stand. He then leaves the room, but immediately comes back in and says he has changed is mind. Fine. . . just want to keep sleeping. So once again he climbs over me (the other side of the bed is free and clear) and layes down. He then pops up and looks over at my night stand again. This is the coversation for the next little while.
Me: what are you doing?
Kyson: (in a kinda hushed scared tone) Mom your phone is moving.
I look at it, it's not moving.
Me: Kyson, no it isn't
Kyson: YES it is
Me: No it isn't, go to sleep
A few minutes pass and then he looks over at me.
Me: Kyson. . . what are you doing?
Kyson: Mom. . . there are little people all around you.
Me: (trying not to sound a little freaked out) No there isn't, go to sleep.
Kyson: Mom when I open my eyes I see people
Me: Then keep your eyes closed
Kyson : o.k.
More time passes
Kyson: Mom when I open my eyes I see a pirate over there.
Then he starts to cry and he is really scared. So I just hold on to him and after a while he goes to sleep. It was hard to go to sleep when I was a little creeped out. Needless to say when Kade left around 7:30 a.m. I crashed again. It was a bizarre few hours. Tonight when he got in bed he wanted to "test" to see if he would still see things. He wanted me to close his door, but stay in there while he looked around. Everything seemed fine and he went to bed. Weird. I was hard to see him be so scared and I couldn't see what was going on. He asked me tonight if I felt bad that he was so scared last night. Of coarse I felt bad. Poor guy. I just didn't tell me he had me a little freaked out.

I probably shouldn't be but I am crying right now from laughing so dang hard. I am just picturing this whole scenario. I lost it at the pirate comment. The phone moving was pretty good too. Plus, I would be scared to death if this happened to me all alone in bed w/out Mike! Poor kid, yet so funny! Great post!

I'm reading this all alone-Brad is at his office. I just put my kids to bed and now I'm freaked. I get scared way to easily. Maybe I should just close my eyes.

You know what the funny thing is, I actually do that at night with Jeff. Like last night, I think I dreamt that someone was trying to climb into our window, and I woke up panicked and determined someone was coming in. I turned on all the lights and checked the entire house all the while Jeff is sighing heavily and yelling at me to go back to sleep. Poor Kyson. I feel his pain. Those dreams can seem so real and the shadows you see at night can be totally freaky.

I was laughing and a little freaked out for you reading this. All I could think of was the movie The Sixth Sense and the classic line "I see dead people."

Oh Ann! This would have completely freaked me out in the middle of the night - but reading this during daylight just made me giggle! I loved your response "Then keep your eyes closed." That doesn't work for me. I still get scared, usually when I am just about to fall asleep. Our house makes noises. Richard has a tendency to "hear" things during the night - which I do not enjoy. He's usually not awake enough to really know what he's saying, but I perk right up, get freaked out, and can't get back to sleep. Fun times with us! :-) I still cannot sleep unless there is a little bit of light. I don't need any help freaking myself out on any given night. I suppose, in a way, it is a talent. :-)

Poor Kyson. How scary for the both of you! A pirate? Moving phone? Yikes. I would've been more than just a little freaked out! Hope he's doing better! And you better be feeling bad for him!
